From One Gym to a Fitness Empire: The Abhishek Gagneja Story

How one man's grit turned a 700 sq. ft. gym into India's fastest-growing fitness brand
It started as a small 700 sq. ft. gym in Saharanpur, built on nothing more than Mr Abhishek Gagneja’s determination to help people transform. That single room quickly became the most trusted fitness name in India & beyond.
From there, there was no looking back. What began as one gym turned into a bigger vision and built an entire ecosystem - gym franchise, equipment manufacturing, a training academy, apparel, even software - each new venture born from the same drive that started it all. By 2024, Pro Ultimate was officially recognised as India’s fastest-growing brand. And somewhere along the way came Club 72, India’s biggest gym - a project that says a lot about how far the vision had come.

For Mr Abhishek, this was never just about building gyms & equipment, it's about empowering individuals to build fitness businesses of their own. His mission is simple: give people everything they need to turn a fitness dream into a real business. And his vision goes further still - to build a fitness brand that doesn't just grow in India, but sets the standard worldwide.
Today, headquartered in Mohali, the company runs on a team of 450+ employees, with a footprint of nearly 200+ gym franchises and 5,000+ gym setups across India and the journey is far from over, with international expansion already on the horizon.

Turning Setbacks Into Comebacks
In 2020, as COVID brought the fitness world to a standstill, gyms shut their doors, and the industry seemed to pause indefinitely. But instead of waiting for things to return to normal, Mr Abhishek noticed something that the others didn't. People hadn't stopped training; they'd just moved home. So the brand moved with them, stepping into home gym equipment and turning a shutdown into a new direction.
A few years later, a fire broke out at the equipment manufacturing facility. It was a serious setback. And when it happened again in 2026, the response was the same both times rebuild and come back stronger than before. Through it all, it's Mr Abhishek's ability to stay steady under pressure, and to find opportunities where others would only see a setback, that's carried Pro Ultimate through every one of these moments.
Building pathways for others
What sets him apart isn't just building gyms & equipment, it's building pathways for others to do the same. His philosophy has always been to find the gaps that are stopping people from owning a fitness business, and fix them one at a time. That’s really how Pro Ultimate became a full 360° fitness brand. For trainers who once could only dream of owning a gym,
That dream is now within reach with a proven roadmap, hands-on business support, and a track record of helping partners achieve 100% ROI within 4-6 months. It's an Indian brand built on affordability, accessibility, and genuine post-sales commitment the goal was never just a sale. It's a profitable, lasting business for every partner.
Staying still was never an option for him. He kept pushing forward to upgrade equipment and manufacturing methods, so partners can get world-class gear without paying a premium for it. One of his smartest moves was building a pre-sale and post-sale system that helped franchise partners to start building memberships even before the gym opens its doors and continue after.

For him, leadership isn't confined to a boardroom but it means opening doors, not guarding them. He believes ideas can come from anywhere: a junior trainer, a regional franchise partner, or a senior manager alike. Regular feedback loops and cross-functional discussions ensure every voice, regardless of seniority or department, has a real say in shaping how the business grows.
Leading Without Borders
While India remains home, Mr Abhishek's outlook has always been global. The brand has already reached Oman, Nepal, Maldives and South Africa - with Dubai marking the next big step into the Middle East. To build equipment that doesn't just win in India but compete worldwide, the team draws on manufacturing insight and technology from innovation hubs across the globe. For Mr Abhishek, going global isn't about exporting one model everywhere, it's about understanding each market and adapting to it.

The ambition is clear: “not just a strong domestic brand, but a name that dominates fitness worldwide.”
Giving Back, Building People
For Mr Abhishek, success was never meant to stay within four walls. Somewhere along the way, it became about something bigger: the people around him and the country that gave him his start.
That's why, alongside the business, you'll find him supporting International Yoga Day, sponsoring sports events such as The Bharat Pro Show (A major qualifier for athletes aiming for the Mr Olympia stage), and organising food drives for those who need it most. Nothing flashy, nothing for show - just a genuine belief that when a community grows healthier and stronger, everyone rises with it.
Because in the end, that's what this journey has really been about. Not just building gyms, or brands, or numbers on a chart but building people and for him that will always be the real win.
